Password Manager

Linux

The cross-platform password manager KeePass runs equally well on Linux thanks to its underlying framework Mono. First, the required Firefox plugins must be installed, i.e.: KeeFox and PassIFox. Next open a terminal and install the Mono framework by invoking:

$ sudo apt-get install mono-complete

After those steps have been finished download the latest KeePass Professional Edition Portable ZIP file. Once this download is finished extract the ZIP content to your home folder. Now restart Firefox and find a new tap called “Setup KeeFox”. Copy the link under 5), open a terminal and create a plugins folder where the KeePassRPC.plgx file must be copied int to:

$ cd ~
$ mkdir KeePass/plugins
$ cp /home/<USERNAME>/.mozilla/firefox/<SOMETHING>.default/extensions/keefox\@chris.tomlinson/deps/KeePassRPC.plgx ~/KeePass/plugins/

Now restart Firefox, hit the new KeeFox icon in your toolbar and say “Create new database”. Make sure this database including the key file is located in your ownCloud folder so that you share it with other devices you are using.
